A man was charged yesterday with assaulting and slightly injuring a police officer in Dun Guzepp Caruana Street, Safi, on Tuesday afternoon.

Francis Callus, aged 37, from Safi, was charged with injuring police constable J. Zerafa and slightly injuring him. He was also charged with disobeying police orders, insulting the police officer, breaching the peace and driving his car against a one-way sign during school hours.

Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna granted Mr Callus bail against a personal guarantee of Lm500.

Police inspector Johann Fenech prosecuted.
