Malta Independent Friday, 5 May 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 21 years ago

The Resources and Infrastructure Ministry recently carried out a clean-up at the Ta’ Qali Crafts Village in which some 180 tons of rubbish were removed.

Works started on 17 April 2006 and included grass cutting, removal of illegally dumped material and demolition of one hut.

Discussions are also ongoing in regard to the demolition or closing of other dilapidated huts, with the ministry waiting for clearance so they can be demolished and/or closed.

Following the clean-up, Mepa will monitor areas by means of Green Wardens

From January 2006 up to end of April 2006, the amount of material collected by the Cleansing Services Department amounts to more than 10,000 tons with the labour force value of more than Lm300,000.
