The Union Haddiema Maghqudin has lauded the government’s decision to set up the Consultative Meeting on European Union Affairs which will replace the pre-membership Malta-EU Steering Action Committee (Meusac).
The Comeu will be a consultative forum where trade unions, employers, constituted bodies and experts can voice their opinion on how Malta can make the best of EU membership.
The union said it had always believed that this would prove to be an effective tool to ensure that Malta takes advantage of its membership in the EU.
The first meeting of the new consultative council, which falls under the responsibility of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, will be held on 24 May.
