A shipment of 700 grams of cocaine, en route from Mexico City to Malta, was intercepted at Rome’s Fiumicino airport after a Columbian drug mule went into cardio-respiratory shock just before boarding a flight to Malta yesterday morning.
The 60-year-old Columbian man, carrying a Canadian passport, had gone into seizure when one of the 70 capsules of cocaine he had swallowed burst inside his stomach, ensuing surgical intervention revealed.
