‘L-Isfida’ Is back!

Malta Independent Sunday, 7 May 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

After an absence of nearly three years, the popular TV programme L-Isfida will be back on Net TV from October.

Applications opened on Tuesday and prospective participants were already waiting when the doors opened at 9am. All applicants must be aged between 16 and 28 and have an area of specialization: acting, singing or dancing.

“Expectations are very high and we intend meeting them. We are putting all our energy into this project to make it more successful than the first edition. This is a team effort. We are all thrilled to be working together to produce good quality entertainment,” Claudette Pace said.

Applicants will be judged by the tutors and the general public and the final 30 will be chosen to challenge each other over a period of six months. Regular events will also be organised for applicants who don¹t make it to the finals, thus giving all students an opportunity to be part of a life-changing experience.

Net TV is providing the technical expertise, which includes crew, direction and transmission. As this is not an easy project to put up live on a weekly basis, all classes will be filmed and transmitted in the form of Reality TV style clips daily.

Felix Busuttil and his energetic team of the YADA Dance Company and College Of Jazz Dance will provide top quality instructors to teach jazz, contemporary, ballet and hip hop, as well as dancers to help during challenges and weekly performances for viewers.

Chiara, Mro Dominic Galea and Doreen Galea will set up the singing department and Wave Studios will also make available all necessary backing tracks and recording facilities. Alan Montanaro and his team of established actors and directors will make sure the acting department will bubble with talent and creativity.

There will also be surprise guests from overseas. These guests will not only perform on the programme but will also be part of the teaching staff on the programme. The overall winner will win huge prizes including scholarships and cash to help him or her to improve further through training in Malta and overseas.

Cliché Media & Entertainment Co. Ltd are the executive producers of this second edition of L-Isfida. For further information please call L-Isfida Hotline on 7941 4345.
