New CEO For Melita Cable

The Board of Directors of Melita Cable has announced the appointment of Ing. Philip Micallef as Group Chief Executive Officer.

Philip Micallef holds a B.Sc (Eng.) degree in electrical engineering from the University of Malta and an MBA from the University of Warwick.

In January 2004, Mr Micallef was appointed the first chief executive officer of Malta Enterprise and had the task of merging

three former government agencies, and formulating and implementing a new strategy that included attracting foreign direct investment in high-value added sectors such as pharmaceuticals, ICT, back-

office operations, high-end electronics, aviation engineering and other niche

sectors.

In the last 20 years Mr Micallef acquired extensive experience in middle and senior management roles. With various organisations in the ICT and telecommunication sectors across Europe and in

Malta. He has worked

with companies like MSU

in Malta, Olivetti in

Italy, USA, Switzerland and

Spain, and SITA (Societe Internationale de Telecom-munications Aeronautique) in France.

Prior to joining Malta Enterprise, Mr Micallef worked with France Telecom Equant in Paris for four years where he had global responsibility for all customer service operations as well as the integration of customer operations from three merged organisations across Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

He was also responsible for Carrier Relations and Regulatory Matters for France Telecom Equant in Southern Europe.

Ing. Micallef will take up his post at Melita in the coming weeks, taking over from Prof. Juanito Camilleri who was recently appointed non-executive director on the Board of Melita Cable following his election to the post of Rector of the University of Malta.
