Yugoslav journalist and human rights activist Vuk Jovanovic is to give a talk to the Institute of Maltese Journalists (IGM) on “Human Rights in Yugoslavia – unsolved cases involving journalists” on Sunday at 11am at The Press Club, 104, Old Mint Street, Valletta.
Mr Jovanovic, 56, who is in Malta for a brief stay – he was exiled here briefly between 1993-1994 – is the son of a distinguished post-war journalist who edited Youth and Borba magazines.
Born in Belgrade, Mr Jovanovic studied economics at Belgrade University and in 1996 was the human rights spokesman of the Democratic Party. He is the author of 12 documentary films on the nationalist extremities after the fall of communism when Milosevic came to power.
All members of the local media (not just IGM members) are welcome to attend. The talk will last about an hour and will be followed by questions.
