St Leonard Square and the churchyard in Kirkop have been extensively refurbished to give a new look to this quaint little village core.
Visiting the completed work, Resources and Infrastructure Minister Ninu Zammit said that the government believes in the potential that exists in every part of this country.
Work began in January and included removing the tiles and replacing the balustrades in the churchyard.
The pavements were also changed and a new electricity and drainage system installed.
The project, including street furniture and lighting, cost Lm35,000. Part of the expense was covered by the Kirkop local council.
Minister Zammit said the government had already carried out similar projects in Mellieha and Safi.
Similar projects were underway in Lija and Birzebbugia. Work in Qrendi and Zurrieq and on St John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta was planned to start in the near future.
