It is quite annoying to have to go to the Maltco offices in L-Iklin or thereabouts if one wins a prize of more than Lm1,500 after playing lotto, Super 5 or Ubet.

It is apparent that lotto receivers cannot give out prizes of more than Lm1,500, and they are instructed to tell any winners to go to the Maltco offices if this happens.

The reason behind this is probably so that lotto receivers do not keep large amounts of money in their offices. But at the other end of the scale, it is quite irritating for winners to have to pick up their winnings from one place.

Maybe it would be more appropriate to have two or three offices, say in Valletta, Sliema and St Paul’s Bay, for people to be able to cash their winning tickets there, rather than have to go to l-Iklin. It is more likely that people have an errand to run in these places, and therefore kill two birds with one stone.
