The aim of the recently launched The Funny Farm (Horse Rescue) Association, is to rescue horses from being slaughtered when there is no justified reason for doing so.
Once in the care of the Funny Farm team, the horses are assured of care and every effort is made to improve both their physical condition and their temperament. Some of them may be traumatised as a result of having been ill-treated and it can be an uphill challenge to regain their trust.
Some horses are underweight when they arrive and some show signs of having been injected with drugs in the past – possibly to improve their racing performance. On the other hand, some of the horses may have a good temperament and are in relatively good health, which makes one wonder why they were destined for the slaughterhouse.
Although The Funny Farm (Horse Rescue) Association was only officially founded earlier this year, its chairperson, Sue Arnett, has been saving horses for several years, looking after them with great dedication. With the help of the association and her invaluable helpers and friends, she continues to provide shelter and care for these beautiful creatures.
The Funny Farm (Horse Rescue) Association was officially launched on Sunday, 23 April.
Anyone who has some time to spare to lend a hand with looking after these magnificent creatures can contact Sue Arnett on 9948-7915.
