Since my retirement some years ago, I have made it a point to go to places that, during my working years, I had no time to visit.

So I have spent most of the last three winters – in summer it is too hot – going to exhibitions, visiting historical sites and even driving to villages that I had not travelled to before.

I must say that I have enjoyed my trips. I have realised what a lot of talent Maltese painters and sculptors have. I have seen the colourful history Malta has had and learnt more about the past. I have also driven through narrow roads and understood that parts of Malta are, luckily, still far from the hustle and bustle we live through today.

I hope that God will give me more time to continue my trips. What I couldn’t do in my working years I am doing now. And I would like to continue.
