Keep Fit to help the homeless

Malta Independent Friday, 12 May 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 19 years ago

It was 24 years ago that I retired from the scene as a fitness instructress. I have decided to come back one more time to help the homeless cause in Malta.

On behalf of YWCA, I am therefore appealing to all my past “keepfitters” and all of today’s fitness enthusiasts to wear their tracksuits and plymsoles and come to Republic Street, Valletta tomorrow anytime between 9am and 1pm in front of the Law Courts. Participants can stay as long as they wish and are requested to donate a minimum of Lm1 each (or more if they can) towards Dar Nicky Cassar, the YMCA Homeless Shelter in Valletta.

I extend this invitation to all P.E. teachers to bring along their pupils who in turn are encouraged to donate 25 or 50 cents from their pocket money. Also, all gym instructors to come along with their team advertising their GYMs – and asking their companies/hotels to sponsor them with a donation towards the homeless cause.

My thanks go to the following who promised to attend: Pippa Gee for a wheelchair dance number, Dame Academy, Grace Daikin pupils, Bridget Gauci Borda School of Ballet and Tricia, a voluntary YMCA teacher.

So be a sport and come along with your partners, children, grandchildren and friends to this fitness reunion and help the YMCA homeless shelter through your donations.

Let’s offer some of our time and energy and donate generously.
