Emirates, the Dubai-based international airline, held an awards night for top supporting cargo agents and shippers for the financial year 2005/2006.

The evening, which was hosted by Emirates Manager for Malta and Cyprus Paul Fleri Soler, was held at Villa Corinthia, Corinthia Palace Hotel, Attard.

Emirates vice president Commercial Cargo Operations Peter Sedgley, who flew over to Malta for the

occasion, presented the Emirates Cargo awards to the three top cargo agents for Malta.

These were MAL Services Ltd, BAS Ltd and Eyre Cargo Services.

Mr Sedgley also presented awards to STMicroelectronics (Malta) Ltd, Melita Tuna Ltd, and De La Rue Currency & Security who received recognition as the top shippers for Malta.

Emirates Airline flies from Dubai to Malta via Larnaca every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday on A330-200, with a freight capacity of 13 tonnes each way. This new route has opened another gateway in the Mediterranean and is providing faster delivery for Maltese importers of perishables and other time-sensitive cargo.
