During a special celebration at the Coastline Hotel last month, 68 members of staff of Island Hotels Group received awards in recognition of their loyalty and length of service, which ranged between five and 15 years.
What made this year’s awards even more special was the fact that among the recipients were three employees with special needs who work on a full-time basis in various departments across the group.
During the ceremony, group managing director W. V. Zahra thanked all those present for their commitment and loyalty to the company. In a short address, he said he was proud of the fact that the group has always based its employment policy on choosing Maltese nationals to work in the properties owned and manager by the group.
He pointed out that the group now employs over 1,000 people in its four hotels and catering company and reminded everyone present that over half the staff in the group has worked for the company for over five years.
Next year, a 20-year award will be added – an event definitely worth celebrating, along with the 10th anniversary of the Radisson SAS Bay Point Resort.
Employees and their partners were treated to an evening reception. Mr Zahra and group chairman Nazzareno Vassallo presented the recipients of awards with a commemorative plaque and also a voucher for use in the Island Hotels Group outlets in appreciation and recognition of their loyalty and length of service.
