Two men were sentenced to two years in jail, suspended for four years, yesterday after they pleaded guilty to stealing Lm3,000 worth of brand new power tools to the detriment of Pillow Space Frames Ltd.
Kevin Grech, 23, from Valletta and Adam Vella, also 23, from Floriana, who both said they were unemployed, pleaded guilty to stealing the tools early yesterday morning. The police said the men were apprehended shortly after they drove off at high speed after they were stopped during a road block some time after the theft.
Grech and Vella pleaded guilty to the charges brought against them. Grech was also fined Lm1,000 for driving a car without insurance cover.
Police inspectors Carmelo Bartolo and Silvio Valletta prosecuted while Dr Giannella Caruana Curran and Dr Martin Fenech appeared for Grech and Vella respectively.
