Malta Independent Wednesday, 17 May 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

A 31-year-old yesterday appeared in court to answer to charges of heroin possession with intent to sell to others.

Jason Busuttil, 31, from Birkirkara, pleaded not guilty to being in possession of 12 grams of heroin before and on 4 February 2005.

Police inspector Kevin Farrugia yesterday testified that a squad car was on patrol when officers spotted a car with four people inside. They approached the vehicle and searched the occupants. Around 12 grams of heroin were found stashed under the driver’s belt in the small of his back.

Police inspectors Kevin Farrugia and Victor Aquilina prosecuted. Dr Chris Cardona appeared for the defence.
