There are a large number of promises of sale that have remained pending for years without a contract having ever been signed, Labour spokespersons Anglu Farrugia and Stefan Buontempo said yesterday.

They said that some of these promises of sale date back to the first Nationalist government of 1987-92, with several families forking out all their capital into a residence to which they have absolutely no legal rights to sell or transfer.

Both spokespersons said that this gross injustice infringes Constitutional and EU rights and called for an immediate remedy to the anomalous situation.
