The hospital authorities said that in order to reduce unnecessary waiting time in the Out-Patients Department, patients are advised to keep their appointment time. Attending the clinic before the scheduled appointment time does not mean that one is going to be seen earlier.
In line with the above, the Out-Patients Department of St Luke’s Hospital recently introduced new policy guidelines for patient prioritisation. The use of the yellow special identity card as basis for giving priority at Out-Patient Clinics has been internally reviewed.
This has been done so as to give priority to those people who really cannot afford to wait, irrespective of possession of a special identity card. Priority is now being given in line with the expert discretion of the clinical staff.
These policy guidelines are aimed at facilitating the services given at the Out-Patients Department clinics and making a patient’s visit as pleasant and dignified as possible.
