In the forthcoming days Maltese national teams representing different categories will be engaged in international matches.
The Under 21 team will be playing their counterparts from Tunisia in a friendly at the National Stadium, Ta’ Qali, on 28 May at 4pm.
After being eliminated by Georgia in a preliminary play-off last March in the European Qualifying competition, this match is part of the team’s preparation for next season’s U 21 European campaign.
Another friendly ‘A’ International will be that between the Malta ‘A’ team and Japan. It is being played on 4 June in Dusseldorf, Germany. This is also a preparatory match in view of Malta’s commitments in the European Championships qualifying matches due to start in September.
The Under 18 team will also be engaged in a tournament for the U-18 Youth national teams. The competition will be held in Salerno, Italy, between 29 May and 5 June and Malta is drawn in the first of three groups, with Italy and Poland.
On 7 June it will be the turn of the Women’s team to fly Malta’s colours in a home match. They will be playing Bosnia Herzegovina in the European qualifying competition for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2007. In March Bosnia Herzegovina won the away match 1-0.
