Low-cost Airlines

Malta Independent Saturday, 20 May 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 21 years ago

Summer is nearly round the corner and although we have been hearing for months on end that a decision on low-cost airlines will be taken “soon”, nothing has been decided yet.

It seems that the government is dragging its feet. By doing so, it is losing the opportunity to help Malta’s fledgling tourism industry. The more time is wasted, the more there is a chance that low-cost airlines go elsewhere and then choose not to come to Malta.

What are we waiting for?

A decision needs to be taken. Whether it is a yes or a no is up to the government. But I believe that it is time for the government to make up its mind.
