A man was yesterday charged with assaulting and seriously injuring a policeman at the Qawra police station on Saturday evening.
Marvin Mallia, 18, from Bugibba, who works at his father’s restaurant, pleaded not guilty to assaulting and seriously injuring police constable Joseph Cini at the Qawra police station. He was also charged with damaging the policeman’s uniform and breaching the peace. Before magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna, Mr Mallia pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him. He was granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm1,000.
Police inspector Josric Mifsud prosecuted while Dr Giannella Caruana Curran appeared for the defendant.
