Commemorating Mro Carmelo Pace

The Sliema Philharmonic Society together with the family of the late composer Carmelo Pace will hold a vocal and instrumental concert to mark the centenary of his birth.

Mro Pace formed part of the Sacro Cuor parish community for more than 50 years.

The concert will be held in the Cultural Performance Hall of Palazzo Sliema, 34, St. Trophimus Street, Sliema, residence of the Sliema Philharmonic Society, on Sunday at 10.30 am.

Taking part will be the Sliema Band, directed by Mro Ronnie Debattista FLCM, playing Air de Ballet (1976); Imnarja (1960) and Maltesina (1931); Tenor Brian Cefai accompanied by pianist Michelle Cachia Castelletti will sing Saint Niklaw and Michelle (1960); flutist Silvio Zammit accompanied on the piano by Ramona Zammit Formosa will perform Rondo (1979) , Nocturne (1971) and Pas Leger (1951); and clarinettist William Debattista accompanied on the piano by Michelle Cachia Castelletti will play Scherzo (1976) and Orpheus (1970).

Joe Vella Bondin will deliver a talk on Mro Pace.

A bust, donated by Ronald Pisani to the society, will be unveiled at the end of the concert, which will be presented by Joyce Guillaumier.
