Philip Beattie’s reasoning is to say the least puzzling (TMIS, 28 May).

In his loaded reply to columnist Daphne Caruana Galizia, he rants on about his right to dissent with those church teachings that he deems not “to be wholly in conformity with said Magisterium” – that of the local Ecclesiastical Hierarchy.

Barely a paragraph further down he says that Caruana Galizia has no right to pick and choose on Catholic teaching on such matters like sexual morality because “Christianity is an indivisible whole”.

I’m not sure I follow. Enlighten us, do.
