I was about five years old. This was in the 1920s.
There were no chairs.
We sat on hard Maltese stone set in three rows of steps along one side of the pitch.
There was no green turf.
At least one team, but probably both, were service personnel from the Malta Garrison or the Royal Navy Mediterranean Fleet.
My memory tells me we walked from Senglea, through Cospicua, in the direction of Zabbar.
Sadly, however, I cannot recall the exact site.
Any suggestions where, anyone?
