The dispute over a shortage of medicines and the constant rise in the price of pharmaceutical products that have plagued the market recently appear to be moving towards an end after a meeting between the Chamber of Commerce’s Healthcare Trade Section and Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi yesterday.
Speaking to The Malta Independent after the two-hour meeting, the section’s spokesperson Reginald Fava described the encounter as “very positive” and appeared upbeat on a solution which appears to be not too far away.
“The section held an extremely positive meeting with the prime minister where we explained the problems that its members are currently facing in their business operations. I can say that the other side was receptive and understood our concerns and there appears to be a very bright light at the end of the tunnel so that hopefully, we may reach a mutually beneficial solution for the good of the country.”
Mr Fava also confirmed that another meeting between both parties is to take place in the coming days where the final details of a possible solution are to be discussed.
