Art Exhibition in Sliema

Malta Independent Wednesday, 7 June 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Continuing in their series of art exhibitions, as of Friday, Camilleri Paris Mode of Annunciation Square, Sliema, will be exhibiting the works of water-colourist Andrew Borg and artist Antoine Paul Camilleri.

The ethos behind the Camilleri Paris Mode exhibitions is to showcase new and promising artists, and these two certainly qualify on both counts. The work of Andrew Borg will be a revelation to those who see it for the first time, as it is hard to believe that this artist has only been painting regularly for the past year-and-a-half. His work displays the technique and confidence of a far more experienced artist and yet retains the fresh approach that is very much his hallmark.

Antoine Paul Camilleri is not a totally new face, having had a number of major one-man exhibitions, as well as participating in others. Like Borg, however, Camilleri retains a keen eye for the unusual. His works range from simple clay figures to multi-media compositions, some of them painted with metallic paints to great effect. He is also exhibiting a number of pen and wash paintings depicting Maltese landscapes and seascapes.

The exhibition will be open until 30 June.
