Malta Independent Thursday, 8 June 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Malta’s countryside is peppered with architectural gems many of which have over the years fallen to a poor state of disrepair. St Paul’s Chapel was built in 1729 over the site of an older chapel. The After many decades of neglect the fortunes of St Paul’s Chapel in Attard have changed.

With the full backing of the Attard Parish Mr Reno Saliba has taken it upon himself to oversee the restoration of this beautiful chapel. Funding is the key hurdle in such restoration projects and Mr Saliba is delighted to have found the support of GasanMamo Insurance who have agreed to part finance this worthy project. Restoration works on this chapel should take one year with most of the work being done on the exterior thus stopping further damage. Mr Reno Saliba confirmed that St Paul’s Chapel will be used for cultural and spiritual purposes.

In a brief presentation ceremony GasanMamo Insurance Director Julian Mamo said “Our company is proud to assist in such projects and sees particular value in the promotion and preservation of Malta’s cultural heritage. Mamo said, “ We are doing this by supporting such projects, sponsoring Heritage Malta being Patrons of the Palace Armoury and through our advertising campaigns depicting key artefacts and architecture of historical relevance.”
