E-News Replies to Broadcasting Authority

Malta Independent Saturday, 10 June 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Education 22 said that it did not need to wait for a directive issued by the Broadcasting Authority to give the Malta Labour Party coverage to its plan for education on its programme E-news.

In a statement in reply to one from the BA, Education 22 said that when the MLP launched its plan on 27 May it was not invited by the press conference. However, a station producer contacted the MLP on 30 May, during which an appointment was made with Labour spokesman Carmelo Abela to be interviewed.

Apart from an interview for E-news, the station also filmed a 15-minute interview for the programme E-news jiltaqa” which was broadcast last Tuesday.

The station made it clear that both are current affairs programmes and not news bulletins. The aim is to inform the people on subjects related to education, the station said.
