Two men were yesterday jailed for 23 months between them after they pleaded guilty to the attempted theft of a car stereo and after they were found guilty of breaching previous court judgements and relapsing.
Kevin Borg, 23, from Valletta and Kevin Brincat, 30, from Birkirkara, were jailed by magistrate Antonio Mizzi, who noted that the men had not learnt from their mistakes and that the law did not give him any option but to send them to prison.
Borg was jailed for 12 months while Brincat was jailed for 11 months. The court also heard that Borg was placed on probation for a period of three years on 5 June this year over another case and that the crime he committed took place only two days later.
Police inspector Mario Tonna prosecuted. Dr Malcolm Mifsud appeared for Borg while Dr Porcella Flores appeared for Brincat.
