The conservation of Our Lady of Victory Church in Valletta is the second most important fully integrated restoration project undertaken by the Valletta Rehabilitation Project (Ministry for Resources & Infrastructure) after the Cappella d’Italia project in St John’s Cathedral completed last December.
Dr Ray Bondin, VRP’s Executive Coordinator, stated yesterday that more than Lm80,000 have already been spent on the project and it is anticipated that another Lm50,000 will have to be spent in the next three years.
He was speaking at a seminar held in the church to report the progress on the conservation of the wall painting by a team of the Courtauld Institute of Art of the University of London.
