Malta Independent Sunday, 11 June 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

The HSBC Cares For Malta’s Heritage Fund, has presented a further Lm10,000 to Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti to assist in the final phase of the restoration of Palazzo Falson in Mdina. These funds are in addition to the Lm10,000 donation already announced earlier this year.

Palazzo Falson in Mdina is the former home of Olaf Frederick Gollcher OBE (1889–1962), who purchased the building in 1927. A lifelong interest in history and art led him to create an impressive collection of paintings, silver, furniture, jewellery, oriental rugs, armoury and numerous other collections.

In 2001, Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti and The Captain O.F. Gollcher Art and Archaeological Foundation, reached an agreement whereby Patrimonju was entrusted with restoring and managing the site as well as taking responsibility for re-opening the Palazzo as a historic house-museum.
