Zejtun Band In tribute to Mozart

On the 250th anniversary of Mozart’s birth, the Zejtun Band will be paying tribute to this musical genius during the traditional annual band concert on the eve of the feast of St Catherine of Alexandria, which will be celebrated in Zejtun this weekend.

The Zejtun Band, under the baton of Mro John J. Pace, will present the serenade Eine Kleine Nachtmusik in four movements: allegro, romanza, minuet and rondo.

Three popular arias from the opera Nozze di Figaro will follow. These are aria for soprano Deh Vieni Non Tardir, aria for mezzo-soprano Voi Che Sapete and Non Piu` Andrai for baritone.

The programme for Saturday evening also includes compositions in honour of St Catherine. These include L-Ghanja tar-Rebha from the oratorio Il-Mara li Laqtitna Lkoll by Raymond Zammit and P. Miceli Saydon, as well as Innu lil Santa Katarina, music by Carlo Diacono arranged by John J. Pace, and lyrics by Trevor Zahra.

The Zejtun Band will be accompanied by soprano Karen Camilleri, mezzo-soprano Marie Therese Vassallo, tenor Joe Aquilina, baritone Joe Huber and Marie Therese Vassallo voice studio choir.

The concert in the Zejtun main square starts at 8.30pm.
