St John the Baptist parish church in Xewkija have received three new bells, which were cast by the John Taylor Bell Foundry in Loughborough, UK.

The new bells arrived in Gozo on 7 June and were blessed by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech during a ceremony in Xewkija Square on Saturday. The bells, which will be added to the two old bells that have recently been restored, have been named Giovanna, Elizabetta and Maria Addolorata.

A new stone statue of St John the Baptist was also blessed during the ceremony.
