Last Monday, my friends from Australia and I decided to have a bite to eat in a Bugibba restaurant. After paying the bill, I went to the toilet, which was situated at the bottom of a flight of steps. I found it extremely awkward at my age (53), to go down these steps, as they were so irregular and unsafe. It just so happened that I made it back upstairs unscathed, but my 84-year-old friend unfortunately didn’t make it. She ended up fracturing her hand and lacerated one of her eyebrows when she fell down the 15 to 18 steps. For this we spent till 2.30am at the Accident & Emergency Department. The consequences for this 84-year-old lady are obvious because she lives on her own, and her son will be returning to Australia tomorrow.
However, what is annoying me most is the OHSA, whose registered telephone number is 2123 2907. I phoned Maltacom enquiries twice to confirm the number just in case I had the wrong number, as this number is connected to a Fax machine. I’ve now been calling since Tuesday morning but to no avail. I now wonder what one should do. Would someone from the authority please take note, or was this done on purpose?
