I can hardly see any reason for the speed cameras that have been put up on the main Attard road, which leads to the cemetery. As far as I know, this is no notorious black spot for traffic.
Neither is the road known for speeding.
To my way of thinking, the reason could be that Attard council saw a way of making money out of motorists.
The councillors seem to have a tendency against traffic, as evidenced by the number of sleeping policemen in the village. In a very short distance near the church they have three sets of a series of sleeping policemen, which actually have the opposite effect of what is intended.
If you drive slowly on these sets of traffic “calmers”, as you would be expected to do, the car shakes and rattles and your stomach turns. If you go fast you hardly feel anything. The council is in fact telling motorists to drive fast in their narrow roads.
The authorities should explain the reasoning behind the decision to put up these speed cameras.
