The Gift of Life organisation said it was concerned and disappointed that three Maltese Labour MEPs failed to support the recently proposed amendment regarding EU funding of the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7).
The said proposed amendment was intended to ban EU funds being used for scientific research on human embryos and human embryonic stem cells.
“Their failure to vote in favour of the proposed amendment renders the three Labour MEPs’ pro-life views to appear rather confusing.
“Indeed, such a stand taken by those elected to represent the Maltese people, fails to respect the values of the vast majority of the Maltese on the issue of human life. Their abstention goes contrary to the island’s overwhelming pro-life culture,” a spokesman said.
