The conservation of Our Lady of Victory Church in Valletta is a good thing. However what are the plans to restore the conditions of the pavements, uneven road surfaces with holes filled in to name a few? It is unsightly, unsafe and sorry to say – gives an idea of a third world country. I know how a third world country is as I originate from one.

In most capital cities around the world, which are the “pride showpiece” of any country, they are maintained to the highest of standards – which not only promote but also give an insight to the country itself.

Does the Valletta Rehabilitation Project (Resources and Infrastructure Ministry) not realise that tourists take photographs, go home and talk about memories of their visit? Most Maltese people think the conditions are squalid, let alone foreigners who live here along with tourists.

One can only assume that this portrayal will put the City of Valletta and Malta on the map for all the wrong reasons which will further the demise, not to mention the reputation. Add on to this some very interesting and unique souvenirs in the form of bodily injuries and we will truly be remembered. For all the wrong reasons.
