I have rarely found myself in complete agreement with Alfred Mifsud and this is more than enough reason why I feel compelled to congratulate him on his article entitled “A tribute to entrepreneurship” (TMIS, 25 June).

Unfortunately, there is too much envy-driven bitterness today in Malta, which leads many to gratuitously assume that the achievements of successful businessmen must be due to underhand illegal tricks, rather than to their flair and luck.

Profit has even become a dirty word – so long as it is someone else’s profit, that is.

With this attitude, Malta is risking losing its entrepreneurship class, especially now that it can easily find pastures new in the other 24 member States of the EU.

Is this what this country needs?
