President In Tunisia

President Eddie Fenech Adami and Mrs Fenech Adami this morning leave Malta on a two-day State Visit to the Republic of Tunisia. This is the first such visit of a Head of State of Malta to Tunisia. The President will be accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Michael Frendo.

During this State Visit the President will have two meetings with the President of the Republic of Tunisia, Zine El Abidine Ben Ali and a meeting with the Prime Minister of Tunisia, Mohamed Ghannouchi. Meetings are also scheduled with the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Mr Fouad Mebabzaa and the Mayor of Tunis, Mr. Abbes Mohsen.

A business delegation including high officials of government entities, of constituted bodies and also of private companies has joined the state visit and will have a separate programme which includes a business meeting and separate meetings with the Tunisian counterparts. The President will address the meeting.

The President and Mrs Fenech Adami will return to Malta tomorrow.
