The Union Haddiema Maghqudin (UHM) yesterday welcomed the government’s decision to set up a free park and ride scheme to and from Valletta. The union had initially objected to a service against payment.
During consultations, the UHM had insisted that the scheme should be offered at no charge, especially to those people who work in Valletta, both in the public and private sectors.
While acknowledging the need to effectively address traffic congestion in Valletta, the UHM stressed the importance of organising a practical and efficient means of transportation for Valletta residents, workers and businesses.
The UHM said that it is committed to a constructive dialogue that will help to reach the right balance needed in every reform that will help to make the country more efficient and modern.
