Alternative Malta has just issued its first release, a compilation with an exciting mix of Maltese artists. The anthology consists of 20 tracks by bands from the present and the past few years.
The Alternative Malta project was set up almost three years ago and provides Internet users with news, biographies, exclusivities, features and reviews, as well as a discussion forum where one can discuss the international and local alternative/indie scenes. It also organises events and concerts, even bringing over foreign bands such as John et Jehn (France), Needle (Belgium), and in the near future This Et Al (UK).
Alternative Malta was recently invited to represent Malta in Clermont-Ferrand, France, at the first edition of the Europavox Festival where the team had the opportunity to promote the local scene by setting up a Maltese stand where the compilation and other promotional material was distributed to representatives of the other participating countries. There were 25 participants from the EU and accession countries.
The Alternative Malta compilation contains a variety of styles: indie-pop, alternative rock, punk, electronica, folk, country and even theatre music, making up a fascinating mix.
A limited edition is on sale to the general public. A copy can be ordered by sending an e-mail to [email protected]. More information can be obtained by visiting www.alternativemalta.com
