Italian filmmaker Gabriele Salvatores will shoot part of his new film in Malta, it was announced last week.
In an interview given to cinematografo.it, the director said his new film, Naima, will be shot entirely in English. It focuses on the many illegal ships full of the waste of the industrial countries that ply the seas. There are around 500,000 of these ships, Mr Salvatores said, all very old ships that are manned usually by illegals, and for this and other reasons they can never enter any port.
The film will also be shot in California and Mexico.
