The Luxol Basketball Nursery concluded its 2005/06 programme with an end-of-season presentation held recently at the Luxol Gym. Players of various age-groups who topped their category in a Marathon Free-Throw Shooting Competition were presented with Urban Jungle gift-vouchers and other prizes by their respective coaches in an activity which also included a teams photo-session and a small reception.

Steffi Demartino (U15 Girls) was the overall winner of the Competition with a tally of 18 baskets from 20 free-shots whilst Sharon Curmi (U-7 & U-9s), Josua Pulis (U-11s), Dawn Grech (U-13 Girls), Steve Portera (U-13 Boys) and Karl Chetcuti (U-15 Boys) won the other prizes at stake. Young Kim Restall was awarded a special prize for collecting the most sponsorship money in this fund-raising activity organised by the club.

Special mention and appreciation went to the Boys U-15 team (photo), coached by Marco Mercieca, and the Young Women U-19 side, coached by Ruth Spiteri, who were crowned MBA champions earlier this season.

The next activity will be a series of basketball training and fun sessions on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the Luxol gym starting this month as part of the Nursery’s Summer Camp programme starting from the U-9s up to the U-15 age-groups.
