Maltacom has launched the Call Home service. This service enables customers who are abroad to make calls to Malta even if they do not have phone cards, mobile phones or coins. This is possible by dialling a free phone number which gives free access to the international operator in Malta.

It's simple to use. A customer who wishes to use the service need only dial the free phone number of the country that s/he is calling from, through which s/he will be connected to the Maltese operator, who will in turn connect him/her to the desired telephone number in Malta.

The Call Home service is available in many countries, popular with Maltese travellers, at low call rates. A call to Malta from Australia and Canada costs 1c5 a minute, while calls from most European fixed lines cost 5c a minute.

This is a post-paid service and charges for the calls will be incurred by the called party in Malta on the bill of the telephone line on which the call is terminated, if the called party accepts the call and the charges. An additional operator charge of 17c7 per call (whatever the duration) will be incurred only if the call is successful.

The main advantage of using this service is that customers have direct access to an operator in Malta, therefore eliminating the language barrier. Charges are billed to the receiving party. The international rates are cheap and you do not need to have small change.

The service is ideal for holiday makers; students; Maltese citizens working abroad and business travellers who want to charge their company bill.
