A birthday celebration to remember at the Westin Quadro Terrace
Women above a certain age are always hesitant to state the number of years behind them. There are, however, a lucky few who are proud to declare their decades simply because they look much younger.
Simone Calamatta, née Calì, is one such who has clocked sixty but with her handsome looks seems on the lower side of fifty.
At a special gala dinner party on Saturday 17 June, at the Westin Quadro Terrace, Simone looked radiant and relaxed in her lime green chiffon evening gown. It was a memorable milestone dinner in a setting that emulated a Caribbean resort as advertised in a Condé Nast magazine.
The eight course menu specially prepared by Westin Food and Beverage Director, John Hornsby, was a voyage all along the not so easily travelled path of European cuisine and which will long be remembered by the taste buds of the sixty special guests, made up of family and friends.
Some travelled from far away Australia, others from the UK and Italy for this special feast.
The birthday cake tactfully decorated with just Simone's name, carried only one candle. Why risk a fire at such a beautiful venue! In any case, the five minute fireworks display which followed the cake-cutting achieved the same spectacular effect but without the damage.
Orville Balzan provided a delightful musical background with a Sixties and Seventies repertoire and the wines provided by Cleland & Souchet of Portomaso actually succeeded to make the male guests forget that they were missing the Italians play the USA in the World Cup.
As far as Peter and Simone were concerned, they had already won the World Cup by celebrating their 37th year of happy marriage over and above this important 60th birthday.
