PM Roundly booed at concert

It happened at the Roger Waters concert at the Luxol Ground last week.

Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi turned up, without a tie, for the Roger Waters concert.

As befitting a concert based on the music of Pink Floyd, the tone of the entire concert was anti-establishment in a big way, with anti-President Bush songs and graphics, which gave people a sense of freedom through music and protest.

Dr Gonzi was seen to be enjoying himself hugely, although he stayed talking to the people next to him and did not mix with the people at the concert.

During an interval, an enterprising television cameraman focused on him and somehow the shot was displayed on the big screens around the venue. When they saw his image, people booed him roundly. The image was removed.

Some time later, the cameraman focused again on Dr Gonzi and the shot was once more relayed on the big screens, which triggered off widespread booing for a second time.
