I read Marisa Micallef’s comments regarding an incident involving Dr Claire Bonello and Charles Polidano (TMIS, 2 July). Ms Micallef had this to say, “Since when do educated women, like I presume Dr Bonello to be, walk out of restaurants, walk past people dining peacefully and make offensive remarks?”

I wish to refer to an incident that happened on 6 May 2006. I was dining at The Royal Malta Yacht Club in Ta’ Xbiex at a private party to celebrate a friend’s birthday when Ms Micallef started hurling insults at me, even calling my mother a “bloody witch”. I understood later (I don’t reside in Malta so I had little knowledge of what Ms Micallef was talking about at the time of her attack) that her rage was directed at my family regarding an issue my parents had with the Housing Authority, and a letter my brother had written to a local newspaper.

It clearly takes a lot of nerve for someone to comment as she did on the Claire Bonello incident when less than three months ago she launched a personal attack during a private function on an issue that was not personal, but involved the Housing Authority and her position in it. Well, I dare say that not only is Ms Micallef, by her own definition, “not an educated woman” she is also somewhat hypocritical!!
