A former police constable was yesterday fined Lm200 after he was found guilty of cocaine possession but was cleared of cocaine trafficking.
The man, whose name cannot be mentioned by court order since he assisted the police in further reaching investigations, was cleared of cocaine trafficking but was fined Lm200 for cocaine possession on 22 January 2004.
Magistrate Lawrence Quintano ruled that the prosecution had not proved the drug trafficking charge but managed to prove that the man was in possession of cocaine.
Police inspector Norbert Ciappara prosecuted while Dr Roberto Montalto and Dr Jose Herrera appeared for the accused.
