Reference is made to your article, Tony Zarb Hits out at UHM’s Gejtu Vella (TMID, 12 July) where you quoted Tony Zarb secretary general of the GWU saying that Gejtu Vella, secretary general of UHM had betrayed the workers by taking sides with the government on the issue of public holidays.
It seems that Mr Zarb is ignorant of the English language because nowhere in Mr Vella’s contribution to The Times has he sided with the government.
If Mr Vella’s hard facts about the GWU irresponsible handling of the Social Pact issue in relation to the workers’ best interests embarrassed Mr Zarb, he should have answered in an honourable way and not with mud-slinging phrases. On this count, Mr Zarb should apologise to Gejtu Vella.
