Goalkeeper Kevin Agius will undergo a month trail at Germany with Fourth Division side TSV Heiligenstedten. During his visit at Germany, Agius is also expected to have a week training experience at Bundesliga Giants SV Hamburg.
Agius, a Naxxar Lions FC product was given this opportunity by TSV Heilgenstedten staff coach Yorg Vierkant. In fact while on holiday Vierkant saw Kevin in action in an Under 19 match at St.Paul’s Bay ground, he was impressed by his performance, and talked to Kevin after the match about a possibility of a trial with his club. He also told him about a training practice with giants Hamburg as he also has contacts there.
Kevin Agius this year had a fantastic season, as he took his number one place between the posts of the Lions squad in the closing stages of the season, helped the Lions avoid relegation to the Second Division, by performing some good saves including saving two penalties.
Agius is still a young prospect; born in 1987 his biggest dream for him is to wear the National team jersey.
Kevin will be under the guidance of Heilgenstedten coach Cord Bauer who in a previous contact with the same Agius said that he is eager to watch the young goalkeeper in action in some pre-season friendlies. Agius will stay in Germany from the 2 to 30 August.
